This post is all over the place

The weight of adulthood has felt extra heavy lately. Maybe it’s weird to say it that way, when I’m halfway through my 30s. I’m ok, without going into too much detail, it’s just that some things are taking up my mindspace while I try to keep it together.

I jump around from game, to game, to game. Nothing feels quite right, nothing hits the right way, it’s like trying to eat while I have a cold and I still love lasagna, but I can’t savour it.

I put the Switch or Deck away, I cuddle my dog, I talk a bit on Discord, I window-shop game deals. I don’t feel like writing for the blog, or making art, or doing crafts, or reading a book, or listening to my podcasts. Then boredom strikes.

If you asked me, I would say that feeling bored is not a bad thing! We should fight the instinct of wanting to be productive at all times! You should take the time to feel bummed when something doesn’t go the way you wanted, or protect your energy when you don’t have a lot of it. But when I’m the one at the end of my own advice, I just want my routine back. Lose myself in a game, draw something after a random idea popped into my head while walking the dog, write a game review.

I debated whether I should post this. It’s all over the place, off-topic for the blog’s general theme, and I didn’t even know what I wanted to say. But I like that I’ll have this time capsule when these feelings are nothing but a blur. So I wrote some jumbled words and, not without some hesitation, pressed that publish button.

Aw Luna. I also don’t know what I want to say, except that I relate, and you are not alone in this. It is a frustrating feeling and a good time to look after yourself as kindly as possible.

    Thank you for sharing

    1. Thank you Noob <3

  2. Hugs Even though I absolutely understand the hesitation, I appreciate you posting this because it made me see that I’m not alone in having these thoughts lately as well. I even have a half finished post about it, but can’t even find the drive to finish writing it. So I’m just trying to find my drive again

Anyway, it’s not about me but I just wanted to say I relate. So here is a reminder to take care of yourself, and to know that it’s totally normal to feel like this sometimes. Lots more hugs

Usually when I face uncomfortable feelings I write them down. Getting everything stuck in our heads is harder to rationalize I think. Writing them down kind of puts them somewhere else and at least empties my head. So I think you’ve done the right thing – address them head on.

Doesn’t solve the problem of course, but I’ve also learned that not all problems need to be solved, sometimes things can sort themselves out given enough time.

Keep talking Lu, we’ll listen on GGL.

    1. Thanks Pete. I think I should do that, it’s something I’ve done in the past and that helped me back then.

With my issue in particular I do need to give it time because it’s a bit out of my hands. Which sometimes can be good for acceptance but bad for my patience haha.

Thank you for your comment <3

  4. You got this, big dawg! It’s good to get it out sometimes. This was a perfect place to do it. <3

  5. Hugs! Adulting is hard. It sounds like you are really going through it and it’s all a bit out of your hands. I’m sorry. It will get better and I am glad you know that the right thing is to take the time and not beat yourself up for feeling this way. But I also know it’s super hard when parts of yourself feel like they are on pause. Thank you for sharing. It’s hard when your mind is full and we all go through this but the internet can be a place of roses and happiness rather than real life and I’m all for real life. Thank you.

    1. Thank you Margot <3
