Sometimes I get the feeling we (as in, gaming content creators/writers) talk about new releases a lot but don’t celebrate enough when indie games leave Early Access. So today I wanted to take the time to highlight 3 games I am very excited to see reach that milestone within the next month!
Full transparency, life is sort of hectic lately so I don’t know when I’ll get to them. But I hope not too far out in the future.
Go-Go Town!
1.0 coming to Steam and Switch on July 16.
Step into the role of a hands-on mayor and build your town from the ground up. Plan neighborhoods, automate logistics, and grow your community—all while juggling workers, infrastructure, and day-to-day chaos to create your dream town. Play solo for total control, or bring friends for co-op mayhem.
I don’t like to play Early Access games, because I always say that I’m only planning to play a game once, so it might as well be when it’s complete. But I made an exception for Go-Go Town, playing about 9 hours last year. I love the goofy humor and the cartoony graphics. I wonder what will be introduced with the full release!
Fields of Mistria
1.0 coming to Steam on August 5.
Start your new life! Build the farm of your dreams as you discover a world brimming with possibilities. Magic, romance, and adventure all await you in this nostalgic farming / life sim RPG!
Fields of Mistria is a big hit with the cozy gaming community: as of now, the game has over 21.000 reviews and an Overwhelmingly Positive score. I was super curious to check out what the deal was all about, but I thought: you know what, I can be a patient gamer. I didn’t want to spend hours and hours and hit a wall so I waited. I really hope to see them porting the game to the Switch soon, it seems like a perfect game for the console.
Doloc Town
1.0 coming to Steam on August 6.
Doloc Town is a cozy pixel art farm simulation game set in a post-apocalyptic world. Build your dream farm from scratch and explore this mysterious wasteland. Harvest, craft, and battle against ferocious creatures while discover the untold stories of this forgotten land!
I love the pixel art and the overall vibes from Doloc Town. It reminds me of Eastward which is another gorgeous game. I also find it super original that it is a side-scroller with platforming elements rather than a traditional farming sim top-down view. I know nothing about the story and that’s exciting as I prefer to go in blind when playing a new game!
Are you also excited about any of these releases?
Thank you for reading,
-Luna
