Welcome to another recap of what I played this month, some games I wishlisted, showcases and more! Featured in the cover image is Planet of Lana, which I talk about in a bit.
This month I started something new here on the blog, posting a couple of small comics I drew. And because I am going through a writer’s block, I skipped a week of posting. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what I want the blog to be and what to put my focus on, and the main conclusion I got to is that I want to feel like no matter what I post, readers can feel it’s from me, whether those are reviews, reflections or my drawings. Plus, creatively it makes me happier to keep mixing things up. So I might keep experimenting for a bit.

My April gaming log
I had the feeling I completed a lot of games in April but I was still a bit surprised seeing the list as I put it together. So. Many. Bangers.
Death Howl, playing. Maybe it’s a bit cheating to add this to the list since I already mentioned it in my last roundup, but it was my most played game this month – currently clocking 26 hours of play time. Death Howl is a gripping game where you play as Ro, who went into the Spirit Realm to bring her son back, and has to defeat spirits in grid combat. I can’t shut up about this game.

Titanium Court, playing. One of my favorite demos from the last Steam Next Fest, Titanium Court was released a couple of weeks ago. This has to be the best, weirdest match-3 tower defense strategy game to exist. I recommend checking out Emily’s review on the game if you’re interested in reading more about it.
Lil Gator Game, finished. This was the Cozy Gaming Club’s game of the month and I was SO glad to play it. One of the coziest games I played in a while, Lil Gator Game pays tribute to Zelda games in a wholesome, combat-free adventure that made me tear up in the end.

Chants of Sennaar, finished. This was Good Game Lobby‘s gaming club pick of the month, a truly amazing adventure/puzzle game where one of the most fun mechanics is translating different languages. It’s hard to convey how satisfying it is to solve the puzzles and make sense of everything little by little. A real indie gem.

Say No! More, finished. This is a goofy 2-hour game where you need to, well, say no. A lot. I picked this up because I saw that No Small Games was recording one episode on it and I was intrigued. And it did not disappoint.
Planet of Lana, finished. A puzzle-platformer game that kept me on my toes. The bond between the protagonist Lana and her tiny companion Mui creates really interesting moments as you need to work through puzzles taking turns as both characters. Though if you don’t like stealth mechanics (sneaking to escape from enemies), it would probably be better to skip this one.
Nippets, finished. I had a lot of fun playing this hidden object game where you don’t just find objects but also learn more about the characters through little stories. You can read my full review here.

Nippets review: a charming slice of life hidden object game

Demos I played and recommend
Walk the Frog. Guide Froggo through a world on sticky notes and relax while solving the puzzle of his journey home to find his best friend Buddy. Meet quirky animal friends, solve satisfying puzzles, help one another and relax in this cozy and heartwarming adventure with an intuitive drag-and-drop puzzle style.

Sovereign Tower. Play as the Sovereign of a magical tower in this story-rich, Round Table management RPG. Recruit eccentric Knights, assign quests and balance egos whilst carving out your kingdom’s destiny. If destiny doesn’t go your way, keep turning back time, uncover secrets and rewrite fate again and again.
Release date: August 2026.

Wishlists

Beware of the Cartographer! Map a mysterious land during the Age of Enlightenment. Draw the border between two warring kingdoms. Meet the locals. Juggle their demands with the requirements of your mission. Ethical dilemmas, secret plots, strange phenomena… will you be able to bring peace back to the land?
Release date: To be announced.
Ball, Fall, Dungeon Crawl. Drop and merge balls to do battle, slay your foes, and get that sweet loot. Explore, dodge traps, and keep your torch lit. Retrieve the Amulet of Endor from the darkest levels of the dungeon.
Release date: July 2026.

Showcases
I watched two gaming showcases this month – Triple-i Initiative and Galaxies. Both were packed with great upcoming games, though sometimes they do feature too many fps and horror games for my liking. But that’s ok.
Below is a trailer for Neverway, a highly anticipated indie game that released a prologue demo during the Triple-i Initiative showcase. It’s a horror one, so I realize how funny it is to highlight it right after my previous paragraph, lol.

Looking forward to in May
April and May are both packed with indie releases that I’m excited for – May alone has at least 7 games (!!!) I’m interested in getting – but I also feel it’s a good time to remind myself that I don’t need to play everything on release, you know? No reason to feed the FOMO.
How was your April in gaming?
